Someone to have a chat with over a cup of tea, help you get to an appointment or run an errand, or just be there to listen to lend a friendly ear.

We are looking for volunteers to help us build and maintain relationships with groups of unpaid carers across Gateshead. Our Carer Cafes are where carers can attend to chat and receive information and

While our lunch clubs and men's groups are closed, we're delivering two course, freshly cooked lunches in our local community!

Happy to Help are providing reassuring support to hundreds of older people and people with disabilities in their own homes across Gateshead.

The community home help team, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, provides weekly or twice-weekly visits to look after the domestic tasks such as:-

  • Cleaning
  • Shopping
  • Prescription collection
  • Pension collection
  • Bill paying

Each customer chooses the tasks they’d like help with, leaving them in full control over their home care support package, with the freedom to change the tasks as and when they want to.

Our Dementia Support service offers information and practical guidance to help you understand dementia, cope with day to day challenges and prepare

We're a North East based charity that enhances the lives of local children with disabilities by funding equipment to meet their specialist needs.
If you are the parent or carer of a child with a disability, work with a child who needs support, or an organisation or school, you can apply for equipment through The Chronicle Sunshine Fund. ​We support babies, children and young adults up until their 19th birthday who live in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and County Durham, by funding equipment that is not provided by the NHS, local authority or any other source.   ​To apply simply download all the documents in our application pack.
